How LIC pension policyholders can get Aadhaar-based digital life certificate

The Life Insurance Corporation of India’s (LIC) Individual Pension Plan (IPP) annuitants and LIC staff pensioners can get an Aadhaar-based digital existence life certificate. These people need not visit a LIC branch to submit their life certificate, they can easily submit it online by downloading the newly launched mobile app called LIC Jeevan Saakshya.
This app can be used to submit a digital life certificate to continue receiving pension on time. However, to avail the facility, the policyholder’s Aadhaar should be linked to the mobile number.

According to the LIC website, here is how one can get a digital life certificate using the LIC Jeevan Saakshya App:
Step 1: Download the LIC Jeevan Saakshya App

Step 2: Provide Aadhaar card and policy details online
Step 3: Capture Selfie
Step 4: Enter the OTP you receive from Aadhaar and verify. You can now view the image of your digital life certificate.
There is also an option for submission through the "Facilitator" option, which allows a user other than annuitants/staff pensioners to assist them in getting the certificate submitted.

Steps when applying through facilitator
Step 1: Provide information of the facilitator
Step 2: Provide Aadhaar card and policy details of annuitant/ pensioner
Step 3: Verify OTP sent to the registered mobile number
Step 4: Capture Annuitant’s/Pensioner's photograph

In a recent announcement, the central government extended the deadline for pensioners to submit their life certificates. The deadline for submitting a life certificate has now been extended to December 31, 2021.
