The government has introduced a new digital arrival system for entering the country. Starting October 1, 2025, all foreign national travelers to India will have the option to submit an electronic arrival form instead of the traditional paper form.

The e-arrival card can be filled out and submitted online through the Indian visa website (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/), the Indian Bureau of Immigration website (http://boi.gov.in), and the Indian visa Su-Swagatam mobile app up to 72 hours prior to travel.

The paper form will continue to be accepted for the next six months, although the government recommends use of the digital option for a faster and more efficient customer experience, as per the US Embassy’s website.

Visit the website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival/, passengers arriving in India are required to fill out the New Arrival Card by providing accurate personal, travel, and contact details. The form has Personal Details, where the traveler must enter their full name (as per passport), nationality, passport number, and specify the purpose of visit. Under Arrival Details, travelers must mention the date of arrival and list the countries visited in the last six days and submit the form.

As per the US Embassy website, “U.S. citizens should note that this arrival form change is separate from the e-visa application process. U.S. citizen travelers are now able to travel to India with a valid e-visa (or physical visa from an Indian embassy/consulate) AND a valid e-arrival form.”
