Good news for railway employees: Cabinet approves productivity-linked bonus; check maximum bonus details

Festive season bonus
The Union Cabinet approved the payment of Productivity Linked Bonuses (PLB) to 11,72,240 railway workers nationwide, at a total cost of Rs 2,028.57 crore in an attempt to reward and encourage the workforce for their exceptional work. The payment of PLB acts as an incentive to motivate the railway employees to work towards improvement in the performance of the Railways, stated a Press Information Bureau press release.

For whom the amount will be paid
The amount will be paid to various categories, of Railway staff like Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Pointsman, Ministerial staff and other Group C staff.

Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equals to 78 days salaries
Every year, prior to the Durga Puja/Dusshera holidays, eligible railway employees receive payment of PLB. Approximately 11.72 lakh non-gazetted Railway employees are receiving PLB payments this year as well, which is equal to 78 days' salaries.

What is the maximum amount
The maximum amount payable to an eligible railway employee is Rs.17,951/- for 78 days. The above sum will be given to several types of railway staff, including track maintainers, locomotive pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group 'C' employees.
