Is your FASTag still active?
The deadline for updating your FASTag KYC was February 29 as set by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). "One Vehicle, One FASTag" is a campaign that NHAI has started to prevent owners of single cars from participating in the multiple FASTag scheme.

ET Online called the NHAI helpline number 1033, and the customer care employee confirmed that the deadline has not extended. According to the NHAI press release dated January 15, 2024, “FASTags with valid balance but with incomplete KYC will get deactivated/blacklisted by banks post 29 February 2024.”

The deadline was later extended to February 29 later. If your KYC is not complete there are chances that your FASTag has been deactivated or blacklisted

Note that a vehicle with a 'blacklisted FASTag is not allowed to pay toll using FASTag at the toll plaza.

There are various reasons of blacklisting of a FASTag, according to the Kotak Mahindra Bank website

1) Insufficient / Negative Balance - The FASTag wallet is not having sufficient balance or running in negative balance.
To activate a blacklisted FASTag, Recharge at the earliest.
2) FASTag can also be blacklisted by the law enforcement agencies due to any rule violation / complaint register against the vehicle. In such cases the enforcement agencies request issuer or acquirer to add the tag id the in the blacklist.

How to know if FASTag KYC is incomplete?

In the event that your FASTag KYC is incomplete, you will be notified via email, SMS, or the application interface of the issuing bank. We ask that you monitor your registered communication channels (email, SMS, etc.) for updates. The following process can be used to update the KYC online, according to the Indian Highway Management Company (IHML) website.

For FASTag issued by NHAI

Step 1: Visit the official website fastag.ihmcl.com
Step 2: Enter your mobile number, OTP, and Captcha code and click the login option.
Step 3: Search for Fastag KYC status and click on it.

Step 4: Enter your Vehicle Registration Number(VRN)/NETC FASTag ID and captcha.
Step 5: Click on the check status option.
Your Fastag KYC Status update will appear below.

For FASTag issued by different banks

1. Visit website - https://www.netc.org.in/request-fornetc-fastag
2. Under Request for NETC FASTag, Select your FASTag issuer bank and click on the visit website link.
3. Login to respective FASTag issuer bank
4. Update KYC Online.

How to check the status of multiple FASTags linked to my vehicle?

To check the status of multiple FASTags linked to your vehicle, you can follow below steps:
Step 1: Visit the official link: https://www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/netc-fastag/check-your-netcfastag-status
Step 2: Enter your vehicle details.
Step 3: Click "Submit."
Step 4: View the status of all the FASTags linked to your vehicle number.

Note that all the FASTags linked to a single vehicle except the latest one shall be de-activated. Acquiring multiple FASTags for a single vehicle is not permitted. However, users have the flexibility to recharge their FASTag using any bank and various payment methods such as BBPS, UPI, net banking, etc.

Process to upgrade from non-KYC customer to full-KYC customer
At the end of two years since activating FASTag, you will receive reminders for updating KYC, if you haven’t done that during the application process. Here’s how you can update your KYC details in this case:

Step 1: Visit the Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL) FASTag portal.
Step 2: Log in using your registered mobile number and password or OTP.
Step 3: Select ‘My Profile’ from the menu on the dashboard. Here, you can check your KYC states and the details that were submitted at the time of registration.
Step 4: Click on ‘KYC’ and select ‘Customer Type’.
Step 5: Fill out the mandatory fields and submit the ID and address proof documents.

Your KYC will be processed in 7 working days from the date of submission of the request to update KYC.
