The government has kept the EPF interest rate steady at 8.25% for FY 2025-26, marking the third year in a row with no change. Now that the rate has been confirmed, many EPF subscribers are waiting for the interest to be credited to their provident fund accounts.

According to a PTI report citing sources, the EPF interest is likely to be credited to the PF accounts of over seven crore contributing members in June 2026. However, no specific date for the credit has been announced yet.

Whenever EPFO credits interest, it reflects in your EPF balance. Subscribers can check their balance through:
● UMANG app
● EPFO Member e-Sewa portal
● Missed call service
● SMS service
They can also access Passbook Lite on the EPFO Member Passbook portal for a quick account summary.

1. Go to the official EPFO Member Passbook portal and sign in using your 12-digit UAN, password, and the security captcha.

Will you lose EPF interest if credit is delayed?
No. According to Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme, 1952, interest is calculated on the monthly running balance even if it is credited at the end of the fiscal year. The EPFO has clarified on multiple occasions that subscribers do not suffer any loss due to a delay in interest credit, as the interest continues to accrue.

No. Once an account becomes inoperative, it does not earn interest. However, under the current rules, EPF subscribers continue to earn interest on their provident fund accumulations until they attain 58 years of age.
