When can a pensioner submit a life certificate?
Pensioners can submit a life certificate, i.e. Jeevan Pramaan, between November 1 and 30 to continue receiving pension without any break. The campaign to submit digital life certificates will be organised in collaboration with 19 Pension Disbursing Banks, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), Pensioners’ Welfare Associations (PWAs), CGDA, DoT, Railways, UIDAI and MeitY, with the aim of ensuring outreach to every pensioner in the remotest corners of the country, DoPPW said in a press release.
As many as 19 Pension Disbursing Banks (IPPB) will hold camps at multiple locations across 300 cities. The campaign will include visits to the homes and hospitals of aged, disabled, or sick pensioners. As many as 57 registered Pensioners’ Welfare Associations will assist in mobilising pensioners and conducting camps in coordination with banks and IPPB.
What is Jeevan Pramaan/Digital Life Certificate (DLC)?
Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate for pensioners. Jeevan Pramaan, i.e, DLC is generated for individual pensioners using his/her Aadhaar number and Biometrics.Note that the life certificate submitted is not valid for life. Pensioners need to submit it every year to keep receiving pension without disruption.
Pre-requisites for generating DLC
The Pensioner has to provide Aadhaar number, name, mobile number and self-declared pension-related information like the PPO number, the pension account number, bank details, name of pension sanctioning authority, pension disbursing authority, etc.In case the pensioner has got the DLC generated in the previous years, these details are auto-populated.
The different modes available to a pensioner for submission of the annual life certificate are summarised for pensioners' awareness. An annual life certificate can be submitted manually or digitally as per the convenience of the pensioner.
The life certificate can be submitted through various ways such as through the Jeevan Pramaan Portal via Aadhaar authentication, via a postman at home, through doorstep banking, or by getting it signed by a designated official.
Is Aadhaar number mandatory to generate Jeevan Pramaan, i.e, the digital life certificate?
