Himanshu Gupta, founder & CEO, LAWYERED, says that motorists opting for Lok Adalat can realistically expect partial financial relief in eligible, compoundable cases. In most instances, the reduction may range between 20% to 50%, depending on the nature of the violation and the discretion exercised by the Lok Adalat bench. For someone with multiple minor pending challans, it can translate into meaningful short-term savings.Gupta explains, however, the more important question is not just how much one saves on the day of settlement, but how scalable that relief mechanism is. Delhi has seen over 80 lakh pending traffic challans at various points in recent enforcement cycles. In comparison, the upcoming Lok Adalat has a limit of 2 lakh challans, with only 50,000 downloads permitted per day.
