This holiday is recognized under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list.

The Indian state of Maharashtra celebrates Shiv Jayanti, also called the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj festival, as a public holiday. On February 19, this celebration honors the first Chhatrapati of the Marathas, Shivaji Maharaj, and his birth anniversary. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj founded Hindavi Swarajya.
