Every government employee has to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) or Jeevan Pramaan once a year to continue receiving pension. Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled digital service for pensioners. Pensioners of the central government and state governments can take the benefit of this facility.

Can annual Digital Life Certificate (DLC) or Jeevan Pramaan certificate be submitted from October 1, 2026?

The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) usually start DLC submission facility for super senior citizens (80+ years) every year from October 1.

However, it is yet to announce the submission dates for the year 2026.


Last year, the DoPPW directed to provide DLC services and necessary support to ensure that pensioners aged 80 years and above can complete the process smoothly starting October 1.

The early window was been introduced to help super senior citizen pensioners avoid the heavy rush that usually builds up in November

What is a Jeevan Pramaan/Digital Life Certificate (DLC) ?

Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled Aadhaar-based digital life certificate for pensioners. Jeevan Pramaan, i.e, the DLC is generated for an individual pensioner using their Aadhaar number and biometrics.

How does Jeevan Pramaan work?

Jeevan Pramaan uses the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication of a pensioner. A successful authentication generates the Digital Life Certificate, which gets stored in the Life Certificate Repository. Pension Disbursing Agencies (PDAs) can access the certificate online.

Is Digital Life Certificate (DLC) valid?

Yes, Digital Life Certificate is a valid certificate and recognised under the IT Act. The system benefits the pensioner from having to go before a PDA to prove that he/she is alive.

Is Aadhaar number mandatory to generate Jeevan Pramaan?

Yes, an Aadhaar number or the VID is a must for generating/obtaining the Jeevan Pramaan, i.e, Digital Life Certificate.

6 simple steps to submit digital life certificate using face authentication

Step 1:

Use any Android smartphone with a 5 MP front camera and internet connection.

Step 2:

Keep your Aadhaar number registered with the Pension Disbursing Authority (bank, post office, or other authority) ready.

Step 3:

Download and install the ‘AadhaarFaceRD’ app and the ‘Jeevan Pramaan Face App’ from Google Play Store.

Step 4:

Complete operator authentication and scan the face of the operator.

Step 5:

Enter pensioner details in the app.

Step 6:

Capture a clear photograph using the smartphone’s front camera and submit.

An SMS with a link to download Jeevan Pramaan will be sent to the mobile number.

Is the Pramaan ID/Jeevan Pramaan, i.e, DLC valid for life?

The Pramaan ID/Jeevan Pramaan is not valid for life. The validity period of the certificate is as per rules specified by the Pension Sanctioning Authority. Once the validity period is over, a new Jeevan Pramaan Certificate, i.e, a new Pramaan ID needs to be obtained.
