Bank holiday tomorrow for Mahashivratri 2025: Are banks open or closed in your state on February 26, 2025 ?

Banks in some states remain closed as part of the regional holiday calendar set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the respective state governments. Bank customers should check if there is a bank holiday in their state before visiting a bank branch.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes a state-wise holiday list in its holiday calendar.

Note that banks are closed on all national and local holidays, Sundays, second Saturdays, and fourth Saturdays of each month. All bank branches are open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays unless there is a holiday declared in the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday list.

Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jammu- Srinagar, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh on February 26, 2025.

Banks will be open in states such as Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Bengal, New Delhi, Goa, Bihar and Meghalaya.

Mahashivratri
Mahashivaratri is an annual Hindu celebration to honor the Lord or deity Shiva. According to the Hindu calendar, the event is held on the fourteenth day of the first half of the lunar month Phalguna.

Digital banking services
Bank customers can use Internet banking, SMS banking, and WhatsApp banking services for financial and non-financial transactions if they have registered for services with their banks.
Transactions such as checking account balance and statements, ordering cheque books, paying bills, recharging prepaid phones, transferring money, booking hotels and tickets for travel, seeing your spending trends, and much more can be carried out as usual.
