Is Monday a bank holiday?
Banks in many states will be closed on Monday, i.e., November 27, 2023 on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima.

Gurpurab is the more often used term for Guru Nanak Jayanti. On Karthik Purnima, the first full moon in November or December, it is observed as the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, who was born on this day in the year 1469.

According to a list published by the Reserve Bank of India, bank holidays are observed (RBI). The banks will be closed for a total of 15 days across various in the month of November, when the festival month officially. This includes the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as Sundays.

Under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881, the central government classified holidays into three categories. The three categories are; Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks' Closing of Accounts

Banks closed on Monday November 27

November 27 (Monday)- Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima- Banks are closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad - Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttara Pradesh, Bengal, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh.

Long weekend
These states will also observe a long weekend as it is a fourth Saturday, followed by Sunday and Monday is closed due to Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima

States where banks are not closed on November 27

Although banks will be closed in many states, banks will not be closed in the states of Tripura, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Kerala, Goa, Bihar and Meghalaya.
