January 15 (Monday); Uttarayana Punyakala/Makara Sankranti Festival/Maghe Sankranti/Pongal/Magh Bihu- Banks closed in Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, Assam.

These states will also have a long weekend because January 13 is a bank holiday because it is the second Saturday of the month, and Sunday is a recognised holiday, followed by Monday (January 15).

In India, the most well-known bank holidays are Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), Independence Day (August 15), Republic Day (January 26), and Christmas (December 25). There are a few additional religious holidays when banks are closed. These dates, however, vary from year to year.
