Aadhaar email update to be free via mobile app from July 1; UIDAI waives Rs 75 fee for six months

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that it will temporarily waive off the Rs 75 fee currently charged for updating your email address through the Aadhaar mobile app.

According to an official notification, "It has been decided to waive off the charges (i.e., Rs 75) for availing service of email address update through the Aadhaar mobile application and make it free of cost for a period of six months with effect from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026."



At present, Aadhaar users have to pay Rs 75 to update their email address. This charge will be waived off completely during the six-month promotional period.

The UIDAI recently launched the Aadhaar mobile application to provide Aadhaar-related services to users in a secure and convenient manner.


The waiver of charges will remain in force from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. After this period, the UIDAI may review the policy and decide whether to extend the waiver or reinstate the fee.

Mode of free email ID update: Aadhaar mobile application only

The waiver applies specifically to email address updates carried out through the Aadhaar mobile app. Users opting for other modes of updating Aadhaar details should check the applicable charges on the UIDAI's official channels.
