After the introduction of new Rs 2,000 notes, there is much speculation about the security features of the new notes.

Here’s how to tell the difference between a real note and a fake one.



Ignore these lies

Rumour: Nano GPS chip is inserted in the new notes to track them.
Fact: The new notes don’t have any such chip installed.

Rumour: Fake notes will not lose colour when washed.
Fact: While notes may bleed when washed, that is not fool-proof test of authenticity.

Rumour: Writing on new notes will render them invalid.
Fact: Scribbling on notes does not make them invalid
