8th Pay Commission fitment factor: What are employee bodies demanding?
The National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has demanded a 3.833 fitment factor. The All India Defence Employees’ Federation (AIDEF) and the Bharat Pensioners’ Samaj have also demanded 3.833, while the Bhartiya Pratiraksh Mazdoor Sangh has sought 4.0. For the 7th Pay Commission, NC-JCM had demanded 3.71, but the government approved a 2.57 fitment factor.

Level 5–8 employees form an important part of the central government's administrative workforce. These levels include employees working as senior clerical and technical staff, junior engineers, divisional accountants, section officers, inspectors and senior supervisors.
