8th Pay Commission salary
The fitment factor is expected to be one of the most important elements in the payout revision of government employees and pensioners in the 8th Pay Commission. While the final fitment factor is yet to be announced, several estimates ranging from 2.0 to 2.57 are being discussed. Here's a comparison of the estimated revised basic pay hike for Level 11-14 central government employees under 2, 2.15, 2.28 and 2.57 fitment factors.

What was the gross salary increase under previous pay commissions?
Looking at previous central pay commissions’ data, the increase in employees' gross salary has varied widely. The 4th Pay Commission resulted in an estimated 27.6% increase in gross pay, with the minimum basic salary fixed at Rs 750.
The 5th Pay Commission raised the gross salary by around 31%, taking the minimum basic pay to Rs 2,550.
The 6th Pay Commission, which introduced a 1.86 fitment factor, saw the gross salary increasing by about 54%. The minimum basic pay rose to Rs 7,000.
Under the 7th Pay Commission, a 2.57 fitment factor was adopted, but the increase in the gross salary was relatively lower at around 14.29%, while the minimum basic pay was revised to Rs 18,000.
The 5th Pay Commission raised the gross salary by around 31%, taking the minimum basic pay to Rs 2,550.
The 6th Pay Commission, which introduced a 1.86 fitment factor, saw the gross salary increasing by about 54%. The minimum basic pay rose to Rs 7,000.

7th CPC salary slabs for Level 11-14 government employees
The current 7th Pay Commission basic pay for higher-level central government employees starts at Rs 67,700 for Level 11. The minimum basic pay is Rs 78,800 for Level 12, Rs 1,23,100 for Level 13, Rs 1,31,100 for Level 13A and Rs 1,44,200 for Level 14 employees. Any revision under the 8th Pay Commission would be calculated by applying the approved fitment factor to these existing basic pay levels.

Estimated salary at 2.0 fitment factor for Level 11-14 employees
At a 2.0 fitment factor, the revised basic pay for higher-level central government employees would double from their current basic pay. Under this scenario, Level 11 employees' basic pay would increase from Rs 67,700 to Rs 1,35,400, while Level 12 employees would see their basic pay rise from Rs 78,800 to Rs 1,57,600. For Level 13, the revised basic pay would be Rs 2,46,200, up from Rs 1,23,100, and Level 14 employees would see their basic pay increase from Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,88,400.

Estimated salary at 2.15 fitment factor for Level 11-14 employees
At a 2.15 fitment factor, the revised basic pay would increase by more than double for employees at these pay levels. Level 11 employees would see their basic pay rise from Rs 67,700 to Rs 1,45,555, an increase of Rs 77,855. For Level 12, the basic pay would increase from Rs 78,800 to Rs 1,69,420, up by Rs 90,620. Employees in Level 13 may see their basic pay revised from Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,64,665, reflecting an increase of Rs 1,41,565. Meanwhile, Level 14 employees would see their basic pay rise from Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 3,10,030, an increase of Rs 1,65,830.

At a 2.28 fitment factor, the revised basic pay would see a further increase across all these pay levels. Level 11 employees may see their basic pay revised from Rs 67,700 to Rs 1,54,356, an increase of Rs 86,656. For Level 12 employees, the basic pay may rise from Rs 78,800 to Rs 1,79,664, up by Rs 1,00,864. Employees at Level 13 would see their basic pay increase from Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,80,668, an increase of Rs 1,57,568. Meanwhile, Level 14 employees may get a revised basic pay of Rs 3,28,776, compared with the current Rs 1,44,200, resulting in an increase of Rs 1,84,576.
