As of now, the 8th Pay Commission has not announced any fitment factor. The 8th CPC is most likely to take more than a year to announce it.

5th CPC: Minimum basic pay holders received around Rs 11,200 as arrears for 21 months.

6th CPC: Arrears rose sharply to about Rs 71,000 for 32 months, marking one of the largest payouts for minimum basic pay holders.
7th CPC: Arrears for minimum basic pay holder were comparatively lower at roughly Rs 13,500 for 6 months.

The government has clarified in Lok Sabha that the 8th CPC report is expected to be submitted within 18 months from the date of the announcement of the terms of reference (ToR). The government announced ToR in November 2025. The financial impact of the salary and pension revision, including the fitment factor, will be assessed only after the report is submitted and approved.
