3 ways to add nominee in SBI savings account, FD and locker

State Bank of India customers can register a nominee for their account by following 3 different methods. SBI customers can change and edit nominee details online. Nomination facility is available for all deposit accounts, articles in safe custody and safe deposit vaults.

According to the RBI website, “Banks are advised to generally insist that the person opening a deposit account makes a nomination. In case the person opening an account declines to fill in nomination, the banks should explain the advantages of nomination facility. If the person opening the account still does not want to nominate, the banks should ask him to give a specific letter to the effect that he does not want to make nomination.”

According to the SBI website, “In case depositor(s) do(es) not wish to make nomination, the same should be recorded on the account opening form by the depositor(s) with their full signature.”

Step 1: Login to ONLIne SBI

Step 2: Click on Request and Enquiries

Step 3: Click on Online Nomination

Step 4: Fill in the nomination details and Submit

Step 1: Logon to Yono SBI

Step 2: Click on Services and Request

Step 3: Click on Account Number

Step 4: Click on Manage Nominee

Step 5: Select the account number from dropdown

Step 6: Fill in the nomination details and Submit

Obtain the nomination form, fill in the details and submit this form to your nearest SBI branch.

The account holder has the right to make, change, or cancel a nomination at any moment during their life. Only after the depositor's death in the case of a single account or the deaths of all depositors in the case of joint accounts does the nominee have the right to collect payment from the bank.
