Sahara says Aamby Valley reopened as company pays revenue authority dues
MUMBAI: The local revenue authorities reopened the beleaguered Sahara Group’s gated township project Aamby Valley City near Lonavala in Maharashtra after the group paid Rs 2.53 crore non-agricultural tax, Sahara said in a statement.

The local authorities had sealed the project, which counts Bollywood actors, cricketers and politicians as buyers, for non-payment of non-agricultural tax and the group termed the action as “illegal” and “high-handed approach.”

In a statement, chief executive of Aamby Valley Vivek Kumar said the group paid the amount following sealing of the over 10,000-acre gated township for non-payment of NA tax of Rs 27 lakh pending since last March.

“For the Financial Year 2015-2016 the outstanding is Rs 2,26,13,870/- for which we have ample days (30 days) in hand to make payment. However, we have paid by cheque today at the insistence of the department,” the statement added. Ends
