NEW DELHI: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation is all set to add a new feature which will enable people to pay their property tax through internet banking. This feature will be operational from next week.

Earlier, through online transaction people could only use their debit or credit cards for payment, which had a transaction limit. "Big tax payers like malls, five star hotels, airport etc. usually had to pay their property taxes through drafts. The process is much simpler with internet banking," said a senior official of South Corporation.

The official added the south civic body is also going to issue E-passbook. "E-passbooks will keep records of all transactions online. In case the physical receipts are lost, details will be available in the transaction history," said a senior official.

This year, officials claimed that collections have been affected due to the confusion over the third Municipal Valuation Committee (MVC) report. "Earlier, the third MVC report was to be implemented but the decision was changed. We expected to collect more than Rs 150 crore, but we have had only 6% rise for this quarter without it," said a senior official.
