NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet is expected to take a decision tomorrow on transfer of land near IGI Airport here for construction of a world-class exhibition centre and air cargo complex. "The matter is listed in the Cabinet meeting tomorrow. The land would be transfered to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP)," a source said.

The exhibition-cum-commercial centre would include an air cargo complex, spread over 154 hectares near New Delhi's IGI Airport in Dwarka Sector 25 and 26. It would also have hotels, a convention centre that can seat 6,000 people. The approval was also sought for mixed use of the land. The proposed exhibition and commercial project will be linked to the Metro.

It has been structured by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation ( DMICDC). The proposal is likely to create lots of employment opportunities. According to sources, there were some issues with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) over transfer of the land for the project.
