Top mutual fund manager exits in last one year

KENNETH ANDRADE
Andrade stewarded the IDFC Premier Equity Fund and built a solid track record spotting future growth leaders early on in their business cycles, and holding on to them as the growth story played out. He remained focused on quality businesses that have the ability to scale up over a period of time. Andrade now runs his own portfolio management services (PMS) company.

APOORVA SHAH
Shah was at the top of his game while managing schemes like DSP BlackRock Top 100 and DSP BlackRock Equity, among others. He strived to put together a portfolio that took into account the changing market environment. He was comfortable taking aggressive positions in when constructing his portfolio. Shah moved on in mid-2015 to manage DSP Blackrock’s offshore funds.

ANOOP BHASKAR
Bhaskar, who has now replaced Andrade at IDFC Mutual Fund, almost single handedly steered UTI MF to newer heights, handling funds like UTI Midcap, UTI Opportunities and UTI Equity. His primary focus was on preserving capital or limiting capital loss, especially during a down market. The strategy meant his funds lagged peers during an uptrend but gave healthy return over a cycle.

PANKAJ MURARKA
Murarka was a key figure at Axis Mutual Fund, managing three equity schemes with a total AUM of `3,750 crore. He managed the flagship fund Axis Equity, apart from Axis Midcap and the closed-ended scheme Axis Small Cap. Murarka was highly growthbiased in his stock picks. He was among the mangers who bought small-cap stocks on the cheap when the market was just taking off.

VETRI SUBRAMANIAM
Subramaniam has exited Invesco Mutual Fund. He managed schemes like Invesco India Growth, Invesco India Dynamic Equity and Invesco India Business Leaders, among others. Subramaniam put a lot of emphasis on metrics like return on equity and capital. His analytical rigour contributed to all his funds’ top quartile performance. He’ll be taking over Anoop Bhaskar’s role at UTI.
