Tarapore Towers rejects financial irregularity charge
The managing committee of Tarapore Towers in Andheri (West) has refuted charges of financial irregularities levelled by a member of the society.
Deputy Registrar of Societies Kishore Mande issued the notice after Tarapore resident Col Narendra Singh filed a complaint against the managing committee. Mande sought reasons why the panel should not be dissolved and replaced by an administrator.
Tarapore Towers has 268 members. “Only a few members, who are hardly 5 per cent of the total members, are always opposing the betterment of the society,” Commander S Bhatla has stated in the reply on behalf of the committee. He claims that the objective of this small group of residents is to “demoralise” other members.
Bhatla has stated that all the actions of the administrative panel, including those related to the society’s finances, have been supported by majority of the members. According to the reply, proceedings of all general body meetings of the society since March 2010 have been videotaped, and the minutes have been submitted to the deputy registrar’s office.
The committee has clarified that a Major Repairs Project ( MRP) of Rs 3.8 crore was undertaken after a transparent tender process. Singh, it claims, had backed the resolution for the project . Singh, however, says that initially he had raised objections as the committee was not following due procedure. He backed the motion later as the society needed urgent repairs.
