Sotheby’s Hong Kong to present 8.41-carat pear-shape internally purple-pink diamond

The stone was cut from a 19.54-carat rough mined by the world’s leading diamond corporation De Beers, with the final cutting completed in New York.

Sotheby’s Hong Kong is pleased to announce that it will present a 8.41-carat pear-shape internally flawless fancy vivid purple-pink diamond (estimate HK$100-120 million/US$12.8-15.4 million) in its Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite Sale on 7 October 2014. This beautiful 8.41-carat stone is arguably the most desirable pink diamond to appear at auction in recent years and ranks amongst the rarest and most desirable of coloured diamonds ever seen at auction.

The stone was cut from a 19.54-carat rough mined by the world’s leading diamond corporation De Beers, with the final cutting completed in New York. Internally Flawless clarity, as seen in this remarkable 8.41-carat stone, is extremely rare in pink diamonds, and virtually unseen in any significant pink diamond of Fancy Vivid or Fancy Intense colour grading ever sold at auction.

This stunning 8.41-carat purple-pink diamond possesses not only "Fancy Vivid" colour -- the highest colour grading by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) signifying the most vibrant and concentrated colour in diamonds - but also Internally Flawless clarity. The stone will be presented in London in September.
