Sekhar Roy's exhibition at Kolkata's Aakriti Art Gallery
Among the mid-generation of Bengal artists, Sekhar Roy is well known. A solo of Roy has recently opened at Kolkata's Aakriti Art Gallery.
Among the works is also a huge artwork which is a combination of a watercolour and charcoal painting, which measures 18 by 12 feet and an installation. The piece is 35 feet in size.
""The central theme of the works hovers around a reflection of human existence and life. I have attempted to focus on a slightly different subject. I have also tried to go for a variation in the texture and palette that I usually use. This is my largest watercolour show,"" says Sekhar Roy.
The recent works of Sekhar Roy display an account of certain specific moments. ""Most of the paintings capture the rich drama of the soul,"" says Vikram Bachhawat, Aakriti's director.
Sekhar's works also bring to fore a detached contemplation of the turbulence of human life.
