'Saral' property tax form on the anvil in Delhi

NEW DELHI: To facilitate Delhiites in paying their property tax, the MCD is planning to simplify its tax return form.

The issue was raised at a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee today in which councillors said the "complex" return form is making things difficult for taxpayers.

"One of the key reasons for low tax collection is that the citizens find the tax return form confusing and complex," ruling BJP councillor Vijay Pandit said.

Assessor and Collector M S A Khan told the meeting that two samples of simplified tax forms are ready and a proposal in this regard will be brought before the committee soon for its approval.
