RMC first civc body in Gujarat to collect property taxes via mobile

Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is all set to become the first civic body in Gujarat to introduce property tax collection through mobile phones.

RAJKOT: Rajkot Municipal Corporation ( RMC) is all set to become the first civic body in Gujarat to introduce property tax collection through mobile phones after joining hands with Atom Technologies, a leader in providing mobile commerce solutions, for implementing its mobile payment and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) payment platforms.

"Property tax contributes the largest share of our total daily collections and we are glad that through our partnership with atom, we will be able to provide an alternative option to the people of Rajkot to make their property tax payment at their convenience using their mobile phones," RMC commissioner Ajay Bhadoo was quoted as saying in a release issued here.

"We are also sure of improving our collections and reducing the overhead costs involved by facilitating property collection through atom's payment platform," the Commissioner added.

While Dewang Neralla, Director of Atom Technologies said atom payment platform is a simple, safer and more convenient channel for accepting payments.

More and more people are discovering the comfort and cost benefits of paying and receiving payments through our mobile payment platform, he said and expressed confident that the solution will help the RMC to offer better and hassle-free option to their customers for making property tax payments.
