Real estate sector logs seven private equity deals worth $162 million in Q1

Real estate sector witnessed seven private equity investments during the quarter ended June 2012, according to the data from Venture Intelligence.

MUMBAI: Real estate sector witnessed seven private equity investments (amounting to $162 million) during the quarter ended June 2012, according to the data from Venture Intelligence.

The volume of investments was lower compared to investments in the same period last year. The January - March 2012 quarter 17 investments, as per data collated by Venture Intelligence.

Morgan Stanley Real Estate's Rs 500 crore investments in Supertech's township project in Noida was the largest during June quarter. Supertech also attracted investments worth Rs 100 crore from US-based Walton Street Capital.

Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) invested Rs 100 crore to enable listed real estate developer Brigade Group to buy land in Bangalore's Whitefield to develop a premium residential project, as per data collated by Venture Intelligence.
