Ram Vilas Paswan: 400 complaints from Jaypee home buyers

NEW DELHI: Union consumer affairs minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Saturday that his ministry has received around 400 complaints from aggrieved homebuyers of Jaypee Infratech and a panel has been set up to look into the matter. These complaints have been sent to the housing and urban affairs ministry.

"The panel is headed by the consumer affairs secretary. It will submit a status report within three days. We will see if there is any jurisdiction...We want to protect the interest of homebuyers," Paswan told reporters.

The minister said about 141 homebuyers have filed cases against the real estate firm in National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. "Once we get the report, we will take it up. My ministry's role is to protect the consumers and we will present the view of those seeking relief before the government," he said.

Jayee Infratech, which is developing about 32,000 flats and plots across various projects in its township project Wish Town in Noida, has been facing protests and litigation from home buyers because of huge delays in completion of projects.
