Over 37,000 PAN cards issued to non-residents in 2006-07
As many as 37,065 PAN cards were issued to non-residents during 2006-07 compared to 48,901 in the previous year, the Lok Sahba was informed today.

NEW DELHI: As many as 37,065 PAN cards were issued to non-residents during 2006-07 compared to 48,901 in the previous year, the Lok Sahba was informed today.
The income tax department has issued revised guidelines for allotment of PAN to Indians living abroad, foreign citizen or a company, trust or firm not having an office in India, Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam said in a written reply.
The requirement of having a representative assessee in India by a non-resident for allotment of PAN has been dispensed with, he said.
