Noida Extension News: Allahabad HC quashes land acquisition in three villages of Greater Noida
The court said there will be no new construction till masterplan 2021 comes into effect & directed UP chief secretary to appoint officer to conduct probe.

NEW DELHI: Allahabad High Court on Friday quashed land acquisition in three villages of Gautam Budh Nagar district for development of Greater Noida and Noida Extension areas.
The court said that there will be no new construction till masterplan 2021 comes into effect. The court also directed UP chief secretary to appoint an officer to probe the matter.
The Noida Extension area is spread over 4,000 acres and estimated 2.5 lakh houses are being built there. Out of this, about one lakh units have already been sold by builders.
On September 12, the high court had started hearing on writ petitions challenging acquisition land by the authorities in Greater Noida. More than 400 farmers from over 12 villages had moved the High Court challenging acquisition of their land.
Farmers in their petitions had argued that the state government acquired land invoking an "urgency clause" depriving them of an opportunity to raise objections.
They further contended that while the land was acquired for industrial development, the government "changed the land use" and handed it over to private builders.
In early July, the Supreme Court upheld the Allahabad High Court order quashing the acquisition of over 156 hectares of land from farmers in Greater Noida.
On July 19, the Allahabad High Court had quashed acquisition of nearly 600 hectares of land in two villages in Greater Noida affecting more than 20,000 home buyers.
After these two judgements, other villagers in Noida Extension also went to court against land acquisition by the state government.
