NEW DELHI: Nandan Nilekani, UID chief will interact with the top tax officials here on innovating the tax administration in the country.

Nilekani, Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UID) will participate in the two day conference of IT officials beginning here tomorrow.

Nilekani who is heading Technology Advisory Group for Unique Projects (Tagup), had suggested adoption of National Information Utilities (NIU)s in five areas, including implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), which government plans to roll out from the next financial year.

The conference would focus on issues relevant to indirect tax administration which are necessary to lay down a road map for efficacious governance, an official statement said.

It would deliberate on issues of revenue mobilisation, goods and services tax, managing innovation efficiency and promoting two-way coordination.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the two-day annual conference and Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam will preside over the valedictory function on June 9.
