National portal for credit linked govt schemes launched: How to apply using Jan Samarth portal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the establishment of the 'Jan Samarth Platform,' a nationwide portal for credit-linked government initiatives, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) via Twitter.


Jan Samarth Portal is a digital one-stop shop that will connect 13 government credit initiatives on a single platform. This website will connect beneficiaries with lenders directly. Beneficiaries can digitally check the eligibility in a few steps, apply online under eligible schemes and receive digital approval.


According to the website, Jan Samarth, “The core objective of the scheme is to promote inclusive growth and development of various sectors by guiding and providing them to the right of Government benefits through simple and digital processes.”

What is the eligibility to apply
Anyone can apply for a loan. First one needs to check the eligibility under the required loan category and if eligible, one can apply for loan under the category through online application.

Documents required to apply under Credit-linked Government schemes
Each scheme has different documentation requirements. To apply online on the portal, the basic documents required are mentioned below. The applicant also needs to enter some basic information.
  • Aadhaar Number
  • Voter ID
  • PAN
  • Bank statements etc.

How to apply apply under Credit-linked Government schemes
There are now four loan categories, with various schemes listed under each loan category. To apply for a loan in your selected category, first check your eligibility by answering a few basic questions. If you are eligible under any of the schemes, you can choose to apply online and receive digital approval. Once you apply, you can also check the status online. There is an option to file for grievance in case of any inconvenience.

How to track application
On the web site, the applicant can check the status of his or her loan application. To check the progress of your applications, log in using your registration credentials and go to the dashboard's My Applications tab.
