LIC hands over scholarship cheques to students
LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation handed over three cheques worth Rs 1000 each to nine students as a part of its initiative to provide scholarship to economically backward students.
Candidates who have passed and obtained atleast 60 per cent marks in tenth class or its equivalent in academic year 2007-08 and whose family income was 60,000 and below per annum were eligible for scholarship for a period commencing from September 1 to November 30 2008, Senior Divisional Manager, Machilipatnam, M Veerabhadra Rao told reporters here.
We invited online applications from July 25, 2008 to August 9 for scholarships. Five male candidates and four female candidates out of an overall 185 applications were selected by our central office on the basis of income and marks, Rao said.
Golden jubilee foundation announced Rs 10,000 per annum scholarship all over the country for students belonging to economically weaker families for pursuing higher studies in medicine, engineering and graduation in any discipline diploma course and other vocation course, he said.
