KOKLKATA: Kolkata now has another art gallery named Mirage. The first show 'Expressions', an exhibition of paintings, sculptures and photography, opened at the gallery recently. The show will continue till May 20.
Virendra Daga, one of the two founders of Mirage, said, "At Mirage, we would like to draw the attention of art lovers to the works of the pioneers and would also strive to provide a platform for those artists who use their style innovatively."
Under the supervision of Raj Rishi Mukherjee, an artist himself, the gallery aspires to develop and sustain people's interest in art and creativity. About his perspective of art, Mukherjee stated that the connotation of visual creativity does not hold on to any 'ism' or style, but is an outcome of spontaneous playfulness happening as a process of introspection and submission.
According to Mukherjee, the gallery will strive to carve its own niche in the realm of paintings, sculptures and ceramics in the spheres of Modern, Contemporary, Abstract and Experimental art.
"Mirage will endeavor to showcase the art of young and upcoming talent. The gallery aims at empowering young practitioners and experimenters by providing an arena to showcase their talent."
