MUMBAI: Chinese construction giant, China Fortune Land Development Co Ltd (CFLD), has expressed interest to work with Cidco in creating an integrated township in Navi Mumbai. And the focused area is centered in Navi Mumbai International Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA).

An MoU was signed between Cidco vice-chairman and managing director Bhushan Gagrani and CFLD president (west coast region) Wayne Liu in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday in Mumbai.

NAINA is proposed to come up on 600 hectares of land encompassing 270 villages in Raigad, in the proximity of the upcoming Navi Mumbai Greenfield airport. "NAINA is devised to be one of its kind model city in India to fall in the world-wide phenomena of urbanization," said Fadnavis.

Gagrani said that CFLD has offered to develop an integrated township through private-public participation in NAINA. "This is the initial stage of MoU... Soon a high-level joint committee comprising officials of the state government and local authorities will be constituted to chalk out the modalities and plan for the strategic partnership."

Through PPP model, CFLD will provide a package of solutions for development of integrated township. It would plan, invest, build and operate public facilities such as city infrastructure, sewage disposal, heat power supply and schools and hospitals.

CFLD has agreed to explore the prospect of developing modern, ecological and favourable living and business environments which will result in harmonious growth between city, industry and people.

CFLD president Jerry Zhao said his company was looking at investments in Maharashtra as it has a conducive atmosphere for growth.
