How to link Aadhaar with your SBI account

Bank accounts holders have to link their accounts with their Aadhaar number by March 31, 2018. The earlier deadline was December 31, 2017. Those opening a new bank account will have a maximum of six months to link their bank account with the 12-digit unique identification number, as per the latest finance ministry directive.

If you are State Bank of India (SBI) customer, here are the four ways you can link your Aadhaar with your bank account.

1. SBI Branch

  • Visit your nearest SBI branch.
  • Carry a copy of your Aadhaar number or e-aadhaar.
  • Fill in a Letter of Request.
  • Submit the above with a Xerox copy of Aadhaar letter.
  • After necessary verification, the linking will be done by the branch.
  • You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number regarding the status of seeding.

2. Online
  • Log on to https://www.onlinesbi.com/

  • Under the 'My Accounts' tab on the top left, select the 'Update Aadhaar with Bank accounts (CIF)' option.

  • Enter your profile password and submit.

  • The Aadhaar registration page will open, and you'll have the option to link it to your customer number (CIF Number).

  • You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number regarding the status of seeding.
3. SBI Anywhere App
  • Login to SBI Anywhere App.
  • Click on "Requests".
  • Click on "Aadhaar".
  • Click on "Aadhaar Linking".
  • Select your CIF from the drop down list.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number.
  • Select T&C, and submit.
  • You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number regarding the status of seeding.
4. SBI ATM
  • At an SBI ATM, swipe your ATM cum debit card and enter your PIN.
  • From the menu, select "Service - Registrations".
  • In this menu, select Aadhaar Registration (or Inquiry as per your need).
  • You can now select the Account type (Savings/Checking) after which you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number.
  • You will be prompted to re-enter the same.
  • You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile number regarding the status of seeding.
