Home prices rose 14.5% a year since Jan 2011: RBI
The RBI House Price Index ( HPI) of major Indian cities shows that home prices have risen smartly since April 2010.

Though quarterly growth rates tend to be volatile, the long-term trend has been encouraging for owners.

* Quarterly increase in the HPI is volatile and should not be seen as an indicator of the long-term trend.

* Annual growth in home prices has also slowed down and even turned negative in some cities in recent years.

* Some cities have seen a consistent rise in prices. Lucknow and Kanpur have witnessed a spurt in recent quarters.

* Home prices in Lucknow have risen 20.64% per year in past five years.

* On the other hand, Jaipur has been the worst markets, with home prices moving 3.5% a year in the past five years.
