Health matters more than wealth in India: Report

Following a healthy lifestyle and forging a stronger bond with family take precedence over more materialistic goals.

Health is the first priority of respondents.
Indians are clear about aspirations and their preparedness to achieve them, finds the BankBazaar Aspiration Index report. The study covered 1,828 respondents across 12 cities. Here are more findings from the report.

The National Aspiration Index stands at a healthy 86.9
People living in the East display greater clarity and confidence about their life goals.
  • North: 86.1%
  • South: 86.8%
  • East: 87.9%
  • West: 86.8%
  • Overall: 86.9%


Non-metros pip metros on the aspiration scale
With the startup culture gaining momentum and tech companies moving to such cities, people living in the non-metros are seeing more opportunities. With a score of 90, Bhubaneswar is the most aspirational city in India.
  • Metro: 86.6%
  • Non-metro: 87.4%

Health is priority

  • Wealth: 87.5%
  • Image: 87.3%
  • Fame: 86%
  • Personal growth: 84.9%

Early jobbers (22-27 years) are big on savings
40% is what they set aside as savings from their salaries.

Moneymooners (28-34 years) are big spenders
62% of their income goes towards meeting expenses.

Wealth warriors (35-45 years) are preparing for the future
58% of this group have begun to plan their retirement.
