HC asks DDA to inquire into illegal sale, purchase of land

Delhi High Court today asked DDA to inquire into the matter relating to "illegal" sale and purchase of residential plots allotted under the scheme of large-scale acquisition, development and disposal of land.

NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court today asked the Delhi Development Authority ( DDA) to expeditiously inquire into the matter relating to "illegal" sale and purchase of residential plots allotted here under the scheme of large-scale acquisition, development and disposal of land.

A bench headed by Chief Justice D Murugesan disposed of the PIL filed in this regard and directed the Vice-Chairman of the DDA to look into it.

"Petition is disposed off with a direction to the Vice Chairman, DDA, to expeditiously inquire into it," the bench also comprising Justice V K Jain said.

Delhi-based Rajesh Kumar had filed the PIL seeking CBI inquiry into the alleged large-scale illegal sale and purchase of plots by allottees whose other land property were acquired by the DDA.

It was alleged in the petition that the land developing agency has been giving plots in residential colonies to persons whose other land properties have been acquired by it.

There is a condition that an allottee cannot sell the plot for a specific time period that too without prior sanction from the DDA, it said adding that, however, the allotted properties have been purchased and sold freely.

The DDA has lost crores of rupees as plots have been sold without taking No Objection Certificate (NOC) from it. The sellers have also not been paying money for taking NOC, the petition said.

It sought a direction for CBI inquiry alleging that these informations were authentic and have been received from DDA itself in response to an RTI query.
