Haryana Postal Circle collects RPLI worth Rs 34 cr
The Haryana Postal Circle has collected Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) worth Rs 354 crore during in 2007-08.
The RPLI collection was 70 per cent more than last year's collection of Rs 211.98 crore, Haryana Circle Chief Post Master General Manjula Prasher said here on Tuesday.
Prasher said this could be achieved by organising various initiatives such as Rural Postal Life Insurance Melas (fairs) in villages to educate people about the benefits of life insurance.
The department has recently enhanced the bonus for RPLI (I) from Rs 50 to Rs 55 for every Rs 1000 of sum assured, if the policy term exceeds 10 years and from Rs 50 to Rs 52 for every Rs 1,000 sum assured, if the policy term is up to 10 years.
Thus an insurer, who is having an Endowment Assurance Policy of Rs 1 lakh will now be vested with a bonus of Rs 5500 a year as against Rs 5000 earlier. If the policy term exceeds 10 years, he will be vested of Rs 5200 for other Endowment Assurance policies.
Prasher said it is the endeavor of Haryana Postal Circle to provide Rural Post Life Insurance cover to every eligible individual in each rural household of Haryana and this increase in bonus will definitely further this cause.
