Haryana Government asks 575 builders to register sale deeds in 20 days

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has directed 575 builders or coloniser licensees to register sale or conveyance deeds of the transferred properties within 20 days, failure of which can lead to action against the non-compliers.

Complaints were received from the allottees alleging that "colonisers have collected a huge amount from them on account of registration charges or stamp duty for executing sale deeds of the plot, flat, shops and office space in their favour, but the said sale deeds or conveyance deeds have not been registered till date," an official release said here today.

If the builders or coloniser licensees fail to comply, then penal action against them will be initiated in accordance with the provisions of law, it said.

Moreover, the amount so collected has been retained by them in an illegal manner and were using it for their benefit, it said.

In the cases, where it is not possible to register the documents, the stamp duty so collected should immediately be returned with interest.

After complying with these directions, the builders would be given a time frame of 30 days to a submit detailed information of cases in the execution of sale deeds.
