The upcoming artists, who received investment, a couple of years ago have carved a niche for themselves in the Indian and international art circles.
My wife and I like to spend a lot of time at art galleries and exhibitions. It all started about six years ago when we brought our first painting home. In my case, spending time at art galleries, imagining an empty canvas come alive with colours and shapes, gives me immense peace of mind. I thoroughly enjoy those moments and there has been no looking back since! Art brings an element of freshness and creativity in life.
Having travelled overseas extensively, and then living abroad briefly, has given me the opportunity to experience various art forms, both contemporary and antique. But, over a period of time, I have developed a liking for figurative and abstract forms of art with an Indian flavour.
Collection
Art is a passion I share with my wife; we spend time updating ourselves on the developments on the Indian art scene, new artists and their styles. We started investing in artwork by upcoming artists a couple of years ago. Today, these artists have carved a niche for themselves in the Indian and international art circles. We have paintings of Jogen Chaudhery, Anjali Ela Menon, Chintan Upadhyay and Nikhil Chaganlal.
I have a painting by Nikhil Chaganlal from his Embrace collection which I really admire. Nikhil Chaganlal's paintings have an individual style and vision. His themes are resolutely Indian and yet contemporary and modern. I had bought the painting in 2004 and I find it mesmerising, and feel it has an unusual quality that sets it apart.
