Entries open to Holcim's awards for sustainable construction

The Switzerland-based Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, a part of the cement major, Holcim Group, has announced the third edition of its ‘International Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction’.

The Switzerland-based Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, a part of the cement major, Holcim Group, has announced the third edition of its ‘International Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction’.

The competition, offering a total of USD two million in prize money, is open to sustainable building and civil engineering works, landscape, urban design and infrastructure projects and materials, products and construction technologies.

The main category of the competition is open to architects, planners, engineers, project owners, builders and construction firms that showcase sustainable responses to technological, environmental, socio-economic and cultural issues, with contemporary building and construction.

The Holcim Awards also has a 'Next Generation' category, which is open to student projects created within university programs, at the final year bachelor level or above.
The entire competition is comprised of five regional competitions in 2010/11 and a global phase in 2012, for which the entries must be submitted by March 23, 2011.
