Endress + Hauser eyes smart cities to double India revenue by 2020
Endress Hauser, a Switzerland-based instrumentation and process automation company, is looking to double its India revenue to Rs 800 crore by 2020.

The company, which has already worked with municipal corporations of Pune and Trichy, is currently in talks with civic bodies of cities shortlisted to be part of government's Smart Cities Mission.“Our entire strategy of doubling the revenue by 2020 hinges on water and energy management work in smart cities. We have initiated talks with civic bodies for tie-ups on these projects in the proposed ecological urban spaces. Around 55% of our revenue focus will be on smart cities initiative," Sajiv Nath, MD, Endress+Hauser (India), told ET.
Endress+Hauser is in the process of expanding its capacity at Aurangabad factory by half to cater to expected rise in work flow, given the government's Make in India and Smart Cities Mission.The company is spending about Rs 30 crore on capacity expansion, which is expected to be completed by October.
“Endress Hauser is planning to invest 7-8% of global revenue worth 2.1 billion in research and development globally and our India operations will benefit the most with the technology transfer. We are aiming to achieve exports worth Rs 1,000 crore from India operations to South East Asia, South Africa and Australia," said Matthias Altendorf, global CEO, Endress+Hauser Group.
“Our existing work experience in water and energy management will allow us to work seamlessly with civic bodies to make these projects more efficient," said Nath. The company works with these corporations in the area of waste water management and conserve energy through energy management services and is currently managing a project through Larsen & Toubro for Delhi's Jal Board.
