The company, a part of the Enam group, will now offer insurance products to corporates and individuals.
"The license will enable the group to expand the scope of services and is a step towards emerging as a one-stop financial supermarket,'' Enam Chairman Vallabh Bhansali said.
EIB proposes to gradually expand the scope of its services across India by utilising the group's existing network of relationships and cater to their insurance needs, , a press release issued here said today.
"As techno-professionals, our aim will be to provide value-addition to our customers by enabling them to have a customised insurance product at reasonable premiums with unmatched service," EIB Director Sandeep Dadia said.
The concept of insurance broking was introduced in India in 2002 and is still at a nascent stage. Presently there are about 250 brokers and around 15 per cent of general insurance kitty is through direct brokers.
