Dubai-based Jumeirah Group inks deal for hotel in Mumbai
Hospitality company Jumeirah Group says it has signed a deal to operate an upcoming luxury hotel at Lower Parel in central Mumbai.

Jumeirah, which is the operator of Dubai's Burj Al Arab seven-star hotel, said the hotel in Mumbai will open in 2017 and offer 470 spacious rooms, suites and serviced apartments, along with wide range of restaurants and bars.
"We will unveil the name of the hotel and further details about the Mumbai project at the next stage of the property's development in mid-2013," a company spokesman said.
The Mumbai agreement represents the first phase of Jumeirah's expansion into India. The company is in advanced negotiations on potential projects for hotels and resorts in other key destinations in the country.
"The demand for five-star hotels in the Indian market has been robust and we are delighted to have initiated the first phase of our expansion into India with this landmark project in Mumbai," said Gerald Lawless, president and group CEO of Jumeirah Group.
