NEW DELHI: Arun Goel has taken over as the new vice chairman of the Delhi Development Authority, replacing Balvinder Kumar.

Kumar had recently been transferred as the secretary, ministry of mines where he assumed charge on July 1.

Goel was joint secretary, department of revenue in the ministry of finance since June 2012 and has been posted to DDA on his promotion as additional secretary.

The 1985 batch Punjab cadre IAS officer has worked in various departments like the ministry of urban development as joint secretary, principal secretary to Punjab government’s department of irrigation and power and department of housing and urban development, managing director of Punjab State Industries & Export Corporation, managing director of Punjab Warehousing Corporation and deputy commissioner, Ludhiana.

Goel plans to improve public interface by revisiting procedures of various transactions of DDA and also by making DDA more responsive and accountable through regular feedback, the authority said in a release.
