Following the success of Out of the Ordinary 2013, the sale will be on extended public exhibition displaying the intriguing items for five weeks from 4 August until the auction on 3 September.
The exhibition will offer inspiration to those with a range of interests and will appeal to new and established collectors. Out of the Ordinary will comprise over 160 lots ranging from £500 to £120,000 and will entice collectors with all budgets.
Amongst the selection of extraordinary items is a rare oak Capture Chair with leg locking devices (estimate: £25,000–35,000). This chair, which bears the inscription "Welcome to my Friends," can trap anyone who sits in it with the metal leg locking bars hidden inside the chair. The captive can then only be released by the mechanism at the rear of the chair being triggered.
Also on offer is a fine Victorian German 'Maximilian' armour in the 16th-century style (estimate: £25,000-30,000) which features a full face on the helmet, an unusually large German two hand sword with running wolf mark, which dates to the 16th century & later (estimate: £3,000–5,000) and A Napoleon III bayonet chandelier (estimate: £6,000–8,000).
