Christie's sales of Chinese Works of Art in New York have totalled $38.2 million
KOLKATA: Michael Bass, head of department, Chinese Works of Art, New York, said in an email statement: "Outstanding results were achieved at Christie's New York for a rich diversity of Chinese works of art, including archaic bronzes, fine jade carvings, classical furniture and ceramics. All three sales realized outstanding sold-through rates, which, together with a packed sale room, affirmed the depth of the market. The sale of Important Chinese Archaic Bronzes from a Distinguished Private Collection was 100% sold and set the tone for the rest of the sales.

"The Lizzadro Collection, Part II, was 98% sold by lot and demonstrated the strong market for jade carvings. We were honored to be able to offer such an exceptional pair of huanghuali compound cabinets, which sold for US$1,563,750, as well as the striking 'dragon' vase, formerly in the renowned collection of George H. Taber, which achieved US$1,683,750."
